About me

Giuseppe Forte studied theoretical Physics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" earning a PhD in Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics. He conducted research in condensed matter physics during his master's degree. In particular, as an undergraduate student, he focused on the electronic surface states of a Graphene surface, epitaxially grown on an Iridium substrate. Together with his colleagues, he subsequently characterized the growth morphology of a class of metal-organic molecules evaporated on the Graphene surface. His work has been successfully accepted to the X International Conference on “Nanostructured Materials” (NANO 2010). For his PhD project, he developed theoretical models, inspired by biology, to describe diffusive processes in constrained and disordered environments- focusing on the emergence of anomalous diffusive behaviors and the non equilibrium fluctuation dissipation relations in the linear response framework. He moved to Japan for his postdoc, at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, where he developed numerical methods for the accurate simulations of stochastic reaction-diffusion processes. After the Japanese experience, Giuseppe moved to the U.S., where he worked as postdoctoral scholar associate at the Department of Physics & iCeNSA of the University of Notre Dame. At Notre Dame, he worked on the development of efficient control strategies to prevent the occurrence of rare events in complex systems evolving randomly in time. He aims to develop theoretical methods borrowed from Statistical Mechanics and Dynamical Systems theory as a unifying tool for describing biophysical systems among different time and length scales. Currently, since November 2017, he has been working as a higher education specialist in a private high school in Italy and, since January 2019,  he joined the Italian Ministry of Instruction ad Research (MIUR)
